Mount Nyangani (formerly Mount Inyangani) is the highest mountain in Zimbabwe at 2,592 metres. The mountain, which is located within Nyanga National Park in Nyanga District, is about 110 km north-west of Mutare. The summit lies atop a small outcrop of rock around 40m above the surrounding area. The hike to the summit makes for an adventurous and exhilarating, but not exhausting, walk in the fresh air which can be explored even by younger children and teenagers. There is the unusual Zimbabwean experience of being able to dip tired feet into a cool mountain stream, without the anxiety of catching bilharzia. Catch the most beautiful views, if the clouds have not closed in, of Zimbabwe to the west and Mozambique to the east.
